Applauds Bush Immigration Stand
I applaud President Bush’s stand for the rights of Latino immigrants. Immigrants who make a tough choice of leaving families behind to endure the long, rigorous, sometimes deadly trek through the desert, and now, across a border lined with trigger-ready civilian Minutemen. Theirs’ is a path of desperation, not choice. Poverty, hunger and no sight of a brighter future would send anyone on a quest for a better life.
The National Guard will not resolve the administrative land-mine employers face processing paperwork to hire legally. Visas are labor intensive and HR nightmares for companies with many immigrant employees. A streamlined application process needs to be created, then employers would have no reason for non-compliance and immigrants could rise out of the shadows as defenseless migrants who are helping fill a need for employers in the U.S.

I cannot imagine the despair of those who are willing to risk life and limb to come to a country that is not always welcoming. In an age of war, fear and zenophobia for the U.S., many second and third generation Americans seem to have forgotten the reasons their grandparents and great ancestors came here, and how much simpler the processes of migrating to a new country were back then.
I applaud the bravery of a President with whom I have not always seen ‘eye to eye’ with for taking a bold step forward, and your vision and courage in providing such a supportive and practical service such as the Lista-Latina.com site. Obviously, you have not forgotten the spirit that made your forefathers the giants they were and a credit to this great nation.
